PAISLEY SEX OFFENDER SENT BACK TO PRISON AFTER ONLINE CHILD ABUSE ACTIVITIES
A convicted sex offender from Paisley has been sent back to prison after being caught engaging in online child sex abuse activities. The court heard that Greg Taylor, who was previously jailed in June 2022 for possession and distribution of indecent images of children, returned to offending shortly after his release.
During the recent incident, officers found Taylor in possession of 580 images and videos depicting child sex abuse after executing a warrant at his Newton Street residence.
He also engaged in online chats with an undercover officer posing as a 13-year-old boy, making sexual comments and requesting photographs.
The court was informed that Taylor had been utilizing an online platform to seek children, where members discuss child sex abuse, violence, and related extreme acts.
Investigations revealed he had sent graphic messages, including a post stating, 'Mmm, show me, I love young,' and had shared explicit images obtained from his devices.
Sheriff Brian Mohan sentenced Taylor to 30 months imprisonment, backdating it to his remand date on March 21 of the previous year, and ordered him to be added to the sex offenders’ register indefinitely.
The judge emphasized the serious nature of his offenses, noting his previous convictions, his breach of a sexual offences prevention order, and his reoffending behavior.
The court highlighted that custody was the only appropriate outcome given the circumstances.
