OXFORD MAN JAILED FOR HEADBUTTING GIRLFRIEND IN DOMESTIC ABUSE CASE
Grant Stephen, aged 28, was sentenced to 16 months in prison at Oxford Crown Court for headbutting his then partner while they were in a vehicle in Banbury. The court heard that this attack was 'nasty and cowardly,' which left the victim with a lifelong injury.
Thames Valley Police and PC Chris Gutteridge described the assault as a 'nasty and cowardly attack' and urged domestic abuse victims to come forward.
The judge noted that Stephen had a previous conviction for assaulting an ex-partner and had previously completed a 'Building Better Relationships' programme, which apparently had no lasting effect.
He was considered a danger to women and was not deemed likely to rehabilitate.
The court's decision underscores the severity of the assault and reinforces the call for victims to report abuse, especially as police highlighted the risk Stephen posed to women with whom he forms relationships.
