GRANT CLARKE FROM DUNS FACES SERIOUS DOMESTIC ABUSE CHARGES IN THE SCOTTISH BORDERS

12th October 2025 Grant Clarke, 44, from Duns, and 21-year-old Katelyn Sherwood boarded a bus in Berwick on April 6 last year when they noticed the 16-year-old and threatened him.

Clarke followed him off the bus into a wooded area in Duns where he slapped the boy on the cheek to his injury.

Sherwood also became involved and struck the youngster on the left cheek with a small blade causing him to bleed.

She pleaded guilty to charge of assault to permanent disfigurement.

Sheriff Peter Paterson placed Clarke on a night time home curfew for the next six months between the hours of 7pm and 7am as an alternative to custody.

She was given a 12 months curfew between 7pm and 7am and ordered to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work.

Both were given non-harassment orders preventing them from having any contact with their victim for the next five years.

Previously Grant Clarke, a resident of the town of Duns located in the Scottish Borders, has been formally charged with serious allegations of domestic abuse.

The charges stem from a recent violent incident involving a female victim, which has prompted law enforcement authorities to take legal action against him.

Clarke is facing multiple charges under Scottish law.

The first pertains to assault with aggravation, specifically related to domestic abuse, indicating that the assault was committed in a domestic setting and involved elements that elevate its severity.

The second charge is under Section 27(1)(B) of the Criminal Procedure (Scotland) Act 1995, which also relates to domestic circumstances and involves procedural aspects of the case.

According to the official charges, Clarke allegedly physically assaulted the female victim by grabbing her shoulders and forcibly throwing her onto a bed.

During this violent episode, he is also accused of threatening to kill her, which underscores the severity and danger of the incident.

Such actions are considered serious breaches of the law and have prompted the authorities to pursue criminal proceedings against him.

It is also noteworthy that Clarke has a prior criminal history related to similar issues.

In December 2014, he was sentenced to a two-year Community Payback Order, a form of community-based punishment intended to serve as an alternative to imprisonment.

However, records indicate that Clarke failed to adhere to the conditions set out in that sentence.

This breach of compliance led to further legal consequences, and he was brought back before the court in February 2017 to address the matter.

The case against Grant Clarke highlights ongoing concerns about domestic violence in the Scottish Borders and the importance of legal measures to protect victims and hold offenders accountable.

As the legal process unfolds, authorities and community members alike await further developments in this serious case.
