DUNS MAN JAILED FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES
Duns Man Jailed for Child Sex Offences A man from Duns has been sentenced to 30 months in prison after being found guilty of historic child sex offences.Derek Skeldon, 55, initially appeared in private at Jedburgh Sheriff Court where he faced three charges, including lewd, indecent, and libidinous practices, as well as sexually assaulting a child.
The offences were reported to have taken place in 2012.
Skeldon made no plea during his first court appearance, and the case was continued for further examination.
He was released on bail pending further proceedings.
The case later called again at the Sheriff Court House on Chambers Street in Edinburgh on 9 December 2021.
Following a trial, Skeldon was found guilty of two of the three charges.
He was sentenced to two and a half years in prison and was placed on the sex offenders register for the next ten years.
