GRAHAM WARD FROM SCUNTHORPE INVOLVED IN CHILD PORNOGRAPHY CASE AT GRIMSBY CROWN COURT
In January 2018, Graham Ward, a 55-year-old resident of Chapman Avenue in Scunthorpe, faced serious allegations related to the possession and distribution of indecent images of children. The case was brought to light after police authorities responded to reports concerning the presence of inappropriate and illegal material on Ward's computer equipment.
Authorities conducted a thorough investigation, which included examining Ward’s desktop computer and associated power units.
The investigation revealed that Ward had been involved in a disturbing online activity centered around a disturbing fantasy involving young girls aged around 11 years old.
Specifically, police found that Ward had downloaded a total of 178 images depicting child sexual abuse.
Among these, he had shared 10 images with others, including one that was classified in the most serious category of child exploitation material.
Prosecutor Jeremy Evans outlined the details of the case during proceedings at Grimsby Crown Court.
He explained that police had acted after receiving credible information about Ward’s online activities.
The evidence uncovered painted a troubling picture of Ward’s involvement in the so-called 'horrible, evil industry' of child abuse, albeit indirectly.
Although Ward did not physically abuse any children himself, his role in acquiring and sharing these images contributed to the ongoing cycle of exploitation and harm.
During the court hearing, Recorder Sophie Drake addressed Ward directly, emphasizing the gravity of his actions.
She stated, “Although you did not abuse these children directly, you still indirectly abused each and every child who appears in these images.
If it wasn’t for the market that you were part of, these children would not have to be abused.
You played your part in that horrible, evil industry.
You are clearly someone who has a sexual interest in children.” In sentencing, Ward received a 16-month prison sentence, which was suspended for 18 months.
Additionally, he was ordered to participate in a sex offender treatment program and undergo rehabilitation.
The court also imposed a 10-year sexual harm prevention order, requiring Ward to register as a sex offender for the same period.
Furthermore, he was ordered to pay costs amounting to £300.
These measures aim to monitor and prevent any future offending behavior, reflecting the serious nature of his crimes and the ongoing threat posed by individuals involved in such illegal activities.
