PAISLEY SEX OFFENDER GORDON MCKAY JAILED AFTER EXPOSING HIMSELF IN PUBLIC PARK
A sex offender known as Gordon McKay, aged 38, has been sentenced to nine months in jail and prohibited from entering any public park for five years after committing a sexual offence at Fountain Gardens in Paisley.McKay publicly exposed himself by dropping his trousers and performing a sex act in front of a woman, causing her significant distress.
The court was told that McKay, of Lounsdale Crescent, pleaded guilty to a charge of exposing his genitals with the intent for the woman to see, as well as carrying out a sex act for his own gratification.
The sentence also includes a five-year ban from public parks and an order to remain on the Sex Offenders' Register.
During sentencing, the judge highlighted that McKay had previously served time for a similar offence involving a minor and stressed that rehabilitation and community support are vital, especially considering McKay might suffer from autism.
The defendant admitted to targeting the victim in June and previously assaulted a teenage girl at a bus stop in 2016.
The court stated that given the seriousness of the latest offence, imprisonment was necessary to protect the public.
