HUDDERSFIELD MAN’S SEX CRIME SENTENCE REDUCED BY APPEAL COURT
A Huddersfield man who had illegal sex with a teenager has had his jail term slashed by top judges.
Glen Hanson, 60, of Kirkstone Avenue, Dalton, was caged for seven and a half years at Leeds Crown Court on August 18 last year.
He admitted three counts of illegal sexual activity after having consensual sex with the girl several times.
He pleaded guilty on the basis that she had ‘initiated’ the sexual contact between them, Mr Justice Males told London’s Appeal Court.
But the judge who jailed Hanson said his crimes had a ‘profound psychological’ impact on his young victim.
However, of previous of good character, he was described as a ‘hard-working’.
His lawyers argued his jail term was far too tough and he had received ‘insufficient credit’ for his admissions.
Mr Justice Males agreed Hanson’s jail term was too long and cut his sentence to six and a half years.
