MAN THREATENING EX PARTNER AFTER BREACHING COURT ORDER
A man on bail for harassing his ex-partner threatened to ruin her life by falsely claiming she was involved with drugs, a court heard.
Christopher Hever was issued a non-molestation order following the breakdown of their three-year 'volatile' relationship.
Despite the court order, he continued contacting her, sending threatening messages and visiting her uninvited.
The day after the order was granted, he breached it, and while awaiting sentencing, committed further offences.
Hever repeatedly bombarded his ex with emails and texts, including accusations of drug use and threatening to make her lose her job.
On August 29, he emailed her saying: “Police have charged me for breaching that order, I hope you're happy now I'll be going to prison.” Despite being arrested and interviewed, he claimed his ex had hacked his account.
On October 24, he messaged her saying he missed her but was aware of the consequences.
He also apologized and shared his contact number.
A few days later, she discovered emails from him threatening her, including one with a photo of her car and messages like 'Ten minutes and I'm knocking'.
Police later found him hiding behind a bin near her house.
He sent numerous more emails, many pleading for her to reconcile, showing his inability to accept the end of their relationship, which was strained by his infidelity and drunken behaviour.
Magistrates described his actions as a serious breach of court orders and showed a 'total disregard for the victim and court rulings.' He was sentenced to a community order with 25 rehabilitation days and 80 hours of unpaid work, and an indefinite restraining order was imposed, forbidding any future contact.
He also has to pay £170 court costs and £85 victim surcharge.
