DALTON MAN JAILED FOR BRUTAL ASSAULT ON EX-GIRLFRIEND
The article details how Aaron Miller followed his ex-girlfriend back to her friend's residence and assaulted her after spotting her with another man.Miller became aggressive and physically attacked her by throwing her to the ground and repeatedly punching her in the face.
The assault resulted in injuries including a chipped tooth, bruising around her eyes, swelling, and internal mouth bleeding.
The court heard that the incident occurred on March 16 when Miller encountered his ex at a 24-hour shop with a man in her vehicle.
Miller demanded to know what they were doing together and then followed them to a house in Paddock.
Inside the house, Miller kicked open the door, went in with others, punched the victim as she tried to intervene in a separate incident involving her male friend, and made threats to prevent police involvement.
The victim was so frightened that she ran upstairs and tried to lock herself in a bedroom but was unsuccessful.
She has been too scared to return home or to her workplace since the attack, and Miller also sent her distressing text messages.
The court found that Miller, who lives in Brock Bank, Dalton, had a history of domestic incidents reported to police but no formal charges had been pressed before.
Miller pleaded guilty to assault by beating, and was sentenced to a community order with 25 rehabilitation days and 180 hours of unpaid work.
He was also ordered to pay £300 in compensation, court costs of £160, and an £85 victim surcharge.
Additionally, a restraining order was issued banning Miller from contacting his ex indefinitely.
