DRUNK MAN CAUSES DAMAGE AFTER LOVE TEXTS ARE LEAKED
A drunken man caused damage to his ex's car after she forwarded the texts he'd sent, declaring he still loved her, to his new girlfriend.
Jack Senior, aged 21, of Wakefield Road in Dalton, marched over to her house wearing only his underwear and sliders.
He proceeded to kick the wing mirror off her Peugeot 108 and called a police officer 'a s***g' when detained.
Senior's outburst was triggered by his ex showing the texts to his new girlfriend, which upset him greatly.
Senior pleaded guilty to criminal damage and acknowledged having a drinking problem.
Kirklees magistrates heard that Senior and the victim had broken up in March but remained friends.
The prosecutor, Vicky Trueman, explained that Senior kept telling her he loved her, but she told him not to do so, and that she planned to inform his new girlfriend.
On May 12, Senior's anger led him to storm to her home in Greenhead Lane, Dalton, after drinks.
Neighbors tried to calm him but he ran out and kicked her wing mirror off.
Police found him standing in the road in his underwear, hitting a wheelie bin, and he ran when they arrived.
Senior was confrontational and abusive to officers, calling one 'a s**g'.
He initially denied causing the damage, claiming he had drunk six or seven bottles of Budweiser and three of Peroni.
The magistrates noted his lack of previous convictions, his remorse, and his efforts to seek help.
Senior was sentenced to a one-year conditional discharge, meaning he would avoid punishment if he stayed out of trouble, and ordered to pay £181 compensation, £85 court costs, and a £20 victim surcharge.
