BEESTON MAN HAD 'HORRIBLE LIFELIKE DEPICTIONS OF ABUSE OF CHILDREN' IN CARTOONS
A police warrant executed at a Beeston man's home led officers to find horrific indecent images of children and cartoon characters of youngsters engaged in sexual activity.Nottingham Crown Court heard 41-year-old Geoffrey Knight, of Peveril Road, also had more than 1,000 extreme images involving women and animals.
Knight's grotesque collection was met with a three-year community order from a judge and a requirement to take part in an accredited sex offender programme.
He will also be on a sexual harm prevention order for 10 years, must sign the sex offenders' register and attend rehabilitation activity days.
Judge Gregory Dickinson QC, the Recorder of Nottingham, told Knight in the dock: "You don't need anyone to tell you that what you did was despicable.
You need a constant reminder of it." He pleaded guilty to three charges concerning the downloading of images in Category A - the most serious - and the less serious Categories B and C.
He had 51 images in Category A, of girls aged between nine and 10 years; 33 in Category B, also between nine and ten years, and 721 in Category C, where the girls were aged from five to 15 years.
Additionally, he pleaded guilty to having 972 prohibited images, which were mainly cartoon characters showing boys and girls engaged in sexual activity, as well as the extreme image collection.
Knight had previous convictions for four offences of indecent exposure, including exposing himself to a teenage girl.
In June last year, police executed a search warrant at Knight's address and seized devices.
"The defendant made admissions in interview," said Stuart Lody, prosecuting.
"He sought to play it down; that he had not carried out searches.
A long list of search terms by him showed he had an interest in this type of material".
He was abusing amphetamine at the time, but has since given up completely and is actively seeking work.
