GARYTH TWISELTON: SHOCKING SEX OFFENDER FROM BURTON CAUGHT IN STAFFORDSHIRE
In a case that has sent shockwaves through the community of Burton and the wider Staffordshire area, Garyth Twiselton, a 32-year-old man from Northwell Road in Burton, has been convicted and sentenced for a series of heinous sexual offences.The crimes, which spanned over a decade, included a disturbing array of voyeurism, possession of extreme pornography, and acts of sexual assault involving both adults and minors.
Twiselton’s criminal activities came to light after police investigations that began in January 2017.
During the course of their inquiries, authorities uncovered hundreds of voyeuristic films and images, many of which depicted victims in compromising situations.
The police confiscated a significant collection of these illicit materials, revealing the extent of Twiselton’s offending behavior.
At Stafford Crown Court, Twiselton pleaded guilty to a total of 13 charges, which included three counts of making indecent photographs, five counts of voyeurism, possession of an extreme pornographic image depicting assault by penetration, two counts of taking indecent photographs, and sexual assault.
Additionally, he admitted to causing or inciting a girl aged between 13 and 15 to engage in sexual activity, although no penetration was involved.
The court heard that Twiselton’s offences were carefully planned and premeditated, highlighting the danger he posed to the public.
Judge Michael Chambers, presiding over the case, described Twiselton as a “dangerous sexual predator from whom the public needs protection.” He emphasized that despite Twiselton’s apparent intelligence and education, his crimes were numerous and committed against both children and adults.
The judge ordered that Twiselton serve a minimum of seven years in prison, with the possibility of parole after that period.
The sentence was set at 12 years in total.
Twiselton’s arrest in January 2017 marked a turning point in the case, but further offences continued to emerge during the investigation.
The police also imposed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order to restrict his activities and prevent further offending.
In a separate, yet equally disturbing incident in August 2015, Twiselton appeared in court to admit to ejaculating into a woman’s cup of tea at an undisclosed location in Burton.
This act was part of a series of shocking offences that also included filming women and children in toilets at a Costa Coffee branch and at Meadowside Leisure Centre.
The court was told that Twiselton had committed these acts over a period dating back to 2005, involving multiple locations and victims.
He faced additional charges of making indecent images of children, with the court revealing that he had created a staggering 1,317 Category A images—the most serious classification—along with 796 Category B images and 12,375 Category C images, all produced in 2017.
Twiselton also admitted to possessing an extreme pornographic image involving a cat or dog on January 11, 2017, and to inciting girls under 15 to engage in sexual activity, under the false belief that they were over 16.
Throughout the proceedings, Twiselton was dressed in a grey suit and was ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register.
The court also indicated that pre-sentence reports would be prepared before sentencing, which is scheduled for January of the following year.
Until then, Twiselton remains on unconditional bail, awaiting his next court appearance, where the full extent of his crimes will be addressed and appropriate sentencing will be determined.
