GREENOCK MAN JAILED FOR DOMESTIC ABUSE AND ORDERED TO HOME CURFEW
Gary Stewart, of Greenock, was sentenced over three domestic abuse charges.
He was found to have overwhelmed his ex by bombarding her with unwanted messages and breaking bail conditions by shouting and swearing at her in her street, calling her an "idiot." He made relevant admissions when traced by officers at his home.
The sheriff placed him on a three-month-long Restriction of Liberty Order with an electronic tag, requiring him to remain at home from 7pm to 7am each day.
Additionally, he was placed on a Community Payback Order, supervised by social workers for two years, attending alcohol treatment when requested.
Stewart admitted his guilt and was ordered to complete 160 hours of unpaid work, reduced from 240, and pay his ex £200 in compensation.
The court was told he is currently unemployed but can earn a good income offshore.
The background report indicated he lacks insight, empathy, remorse, and accepts no responsibility for his actions.
