LOWESTOFT MAN JAILED FOR 13 YEARS
A resident of Lowestoft has received a prison sentence after being found guilty of several crimes involving minors.Gary Robson, aged 59 and previously residing in Southwold, was given a 13-year term at Ipswich Crown Court on Wednesday, 9 January.
He had previously admitted to the charges during a hearing on 24 October 2023.
His arrest occurred on 4 July of the previous year, leading to the charging of him with 10 counts related to children, including possession of indecent images of minors.
Robson admitted to multiple offences, including two counts of sexual contact with a girl under 13, one count of sexual assault involving penetration of a girl under 13, and one count of sexual touching of a girl under 16.
He also admitted to creating 334 Category A indecent images of children, 349 Category B images, 630 Category C images, and recording covert images beneath another person’s clothing without consent, commonly referred to as an 'upskirting' offence.
He denied two charges of sexual touching involving a girl under 16.
The offences are alleged to have occurred between 2016 and 2022 across Southwold and Blythburgh, concerning girls of various ages.
Detective Constable Jessie Hodds from the Safeguarding and Investigations Unit commented: “This was a highly complex and difficult case to investigate and I thank the victims and their families for their on-going support, resilience, strength and patience in bringing this case to court.
Without their evidence, it would have been extremely hard to secure this conviction and sentence.
The victims will never forget what happened, but I hope this sentence brings some closure to their ordeal.
Detective Inspector Simon Bridgland added: “This conviction does demonstrate allegations will be fully investigated and we have dedicated specially trained officers who work with the victims of sexual assault.
Child abuse is often a hidden crime, and we work to ensure that the voice of the child is heard and concerns of abuse or neglect are reported and investigated.”
