GARY LINDSAY'S BRUTAL ATTACK IN GLASGOW LEADS TO NEARLY THREE-YEAR PRISON SENTENCE AND PROTECTIVE ORDER

In a disturbing case that has shocked the Glasgow community, Gary Lindsay has been formally sentenced following a violent assault on his partner in the Blairdardie area of the city. The incident, which took place on February 20, 2022, saw Lindsay, who was on license at the time, commit a series of brutal acts that resulted in severe injuries to the woman involved.

According to court reports, Lindsay repeatedly struck the woman during the assault, inflicting injuries so serious that she suffered a bleed to her brain. The assault was characterized by a relentless series of punches and kicks directed at her head and body. Witnesses or reports indicate that Lindsay forcibly pinned her to a bed, sat on her, and continued to assault her further. At one point, he dragged her by her hair onto the floor, and later returned to punch her again, demonstrating a pattern of violent behavior.

Her injuries were extensive, including a brain bleed, bruising across various parts of her body, and grazing wounds. Despite the severity of her injuries, she was eventually discharged from hospital after a period of high dependency care, which lasted five days in intensive care followed by ten days in another ward.

Gary Lindsay’s criminal history is notable, as he was previously sentenced to ten years in prison in 2013 for an incident involving the assault of his friend, Clifford Bannigan, with a screwdriver, an act that resulted in attempted murder charges. This prior conviction underscores a pattern of violent behavior.

Following a thorough court process, Lindsay was convicted of multiple charges, including assault causing severe injury and danger to life, as well as threats and abuse directed at the woman. The court sentenced him to a prison term of 1,081 days, which is just under three years. Additionally, upon release, Lindsay will be subject to a one-year supervision order to monitor his conduct. To further protect the victim, the court also imposed a 10-year non-harassment order, explicitly prohibiting him from making any contact with her.
