GARY BEAMON FROM CREWE FOUND GUILTY OF DOMESTIC ABUSE AND FALSE IMPRISONMENT
A man from Crewe, identified as Gary Beamon, has been convicted of serious domestic abuse offenses involving his former partner. The case was heard at Chester Crown Court, where Beamon, who previously owned a shop called Rainbow Blinds on West Street—now permanently closed—faced a nine-day trial that concluded with his guilty verdict.Beamon, aged 39, was found guilty of three separate charges: controlling or coercive behavior, assault by beating, and false imprisonment. The incidents in question took place on October 8, 2024, and the court proceedings detailed the severity of his actions. The sentencing hearing is scheduled for July 24 at Chester Crown Court, where the judge will determine the appropriate punishment for his crimes.
On the day of the incident, police responded to a domestic disturbance call at a residence in Crewe. The victim, who was 32 weeks pregnant at the time, was involved in the altercation. When officers arrived, Beamon answered the door but refused to allow them entry. He continued to block the doorway, preventing police from entering the premises. Despite officers instructing him to put his hands behind his back and informing him that he was under arrest for domestic assault, Beamon displayed aggressive behavior and resisted arrest. His resistance was so persistent that officers had to call for emergency backup to assist in detaining him.
Following his arrest, Beamon was released on bail and was subject to a Domestic Violence Prevention Notice. However, he later manipulated the situation by persuading his victim to visit his business in Crewe through a third party, claiming he would not be present at the shop at that time. Once she arrived, Beamon unexpectedly appeared and attempted to embrace her. She refused his attempt and subsequently reported the incident to police, along with an earlier assault that occurred in April 2024.
Further police investigation included the review of CCTV footage, which captured Beamon's abusive behavior on October 8, 2024. The footage showed him being verbally aggressive, refusing to let his partner leave her house, and shouting and swearing at her in a manner that left her visibly distressed and frightened. The victim described how Beamon's actions left her feeling scared and overwhelmed, especially given her pregnancy.
Detective Inspector Kerrie Snowdon commented on the case, emphasizing the bravery of the victim. She stated, “The victim had been subjected to abusive, violent, and intimidating behavior but bravely fought back by giving a full account to police of the horrific behavior she was subjected to by a man who was supposed to love her.” Snowdon further added, “No one should be treated this way in any relationship, and I would like to commend her for her bravery in coming forward. I hope she can now rebuild her life and move on from this truly traumatic experience.”
Gary Beamon is scheduled to appear again at Chester Crown Court on July 24 for sentencing, where the court will determine the consequences of his actions based on the evidence presented and the severity of his offenses.
