A YOUNG man attacked his girlfriend and stole her phone in Saltcoats – then smashed it to the ground after demanding the password last Hogmanay.Garry Manson, 19, admitted, assault, wilfully damaging property and behaving in a threatening or abusive manner back on January 1 this year at Green Street.Court papers state Manson, whose address was listed as Green Street, Saltcoats, shouted and swore at the complainer before then seizing hold of her mobile phone and demanding the passcode for the device.He then threw the phone to the ground causing damage to the item.He also admitted to assaulting his partner during the same incident by pushing her to the ground then seizing hold of her.He also pled guilty to a third charge on the complaint of destroying her property after having smashed the phone to the ground.Court papers state the offences were aggravated by involving abuse of a partner or ex partner.Manson’s bail was continued when his case was called last week at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court.He will return for sentencing at a later date.Any information on criminality in the Three Towns or North Ayrshire area can be reported to Police Scotland on 101.
