GARETH BENNETT FROM DALRY AND ROSS ON WYE SENTENCED FOR CHILD INDECENCY IMAGES
Gareth Bennett, a 25-year-old man with ties to Dalry and Ross on Wye, has been handed a community order following his admission to possessing indecent images of children at his residence.The images were stored on his property during the period from 2010 to 2015, a span of five years during which he kept these illicit materials.
In addition to the possession charges, Bennett failed to comply with the requirements of the sex offenders register, a legal obligation for individuals convicted of sex-related offenses.
His failure to adhere to this regulation was also taken into account during the court proceedings.
The court, in its sentencing, emphasized that the number of images involved was relatively low, which appeared to influence their decision.
The judge expressed a degree of hope that Bennett would take proactive steps to seek help and address the underlying issues that led to his possession of such material.
As part of his sentence, Bennett was ordered to participate in a community sex offender program for a duration of three years.
This program aims to provide rehabilitation and reduce the risk of reoffending, reflecting the court’s focus on both punishment and preventative measures.
