NORTH AYRSHIRE SEX OFFENDER AND SERIAL THIEF JAILED
A SEX offender has been jailed for failing to tell police that he had moved house.Scott Crawford, 30, appeared from custody at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Monday, February 2 after pleading guilty to a host of charges.
He admitted that he failed to comply with the notification requirements of the sex offenders register when he didn't notify police about a change of address within three days, between November 8 and 21 last year.
Alongside a bail breach on November 21 last year, he also admitted a series of thefts from premises in Largs, Saltcoats and Irvine.
Crawford, of Lynn Avenue in Dalry, admitted stealing items from Semi-Chem, Tesco Extra, Co-op and Pound Basket from July 17-21 last year.
He also pleaded guilty to stealing a quantity of alcohol from the Spar in Saltcoats' Wheatley Road on November 5 last year, and stealing meat from Marks and Spencer in the Riverway Retail Park in Irvine on November 28 last year.
His defence solicitor told the court that Crawford "acknowledged he has difficulties with drugs", and that he was "making the right noises about rehabilitation".
Sheriff Morag Fraser sentenced Crawford to 270 days in prison, backdated to January 16 this year.
