NORTH AYRSHIRE SEX OFFENDER SENTENCED OVER BANNED APPS
A SEX offender has been handed more unpaid work after having banned apps on his phone.Harry Cameron was sentenced last year after pleading guilty to possessing more than 900 indecent images of children, some of which included babies.
He also admitted sending an illicit video to another person when he appeared in the dock at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court in January 2025.
The 25-year-old pleaded guilty to a pair of charges in relation to possessing indecent photographs or pseudo-photographs of children between January 26 and September 5, 2023 and distributing or showing the content on April 24 of the same year.
Prosecutor Craig Wainwright told a previous court hearing that Cameron was first caught out by police after they received information that indecent content of children was being downloaded from his then address in Irvine.
Officers obtained a warrant and attended in the early morning of September 5, 2023.
Initially, he was cautioned alongside two siblings who were also present - with each asked to provide passcodes for the personal electronic devices which had been seized.
A cybercrime team later attended to assist in the investigation and were able to preview each device.
Indecent images of children were found on an iPhone, and Cameron, who was then of Galt Avenue, identified himself as the owner.
After being handed a community payback order, Cameron, now of Garnock Street in Dalry, was back in court on Monday, February 2 after pleading guilty to a further charge.
He admitted having Snapchat and WhatsApp on his phone on January 31 last year, despite being subject to court conditions that he did not use any device capable of accessing the internet unless it had the capacity to retain and supply the history of internet use.
His solicitor, Scott Agnew, said: "An order was imposed in April last year for three years, and he has made positive progress on that.
He consents to restricted movement and more unpaid work." Sheriff Morag Fraser ordered Cameron to complete another 120 hours of unpaid work within 12 months.
