HEREFORDSHIRE MAN IN COURT FOR MENACING MESSAGES
A man from Herefordshire was brought before the magistrates following allegations of sending threatening messages to another individual.David Furnell pleaded guilty to a charge of sending a message that was offensive, indecent, obscene, or menacing via a public communication network when he appeared in Hereford magistrates’ court.
The prosecution, represented by Camila Toscano, informed the court that the 55-year-old, who was defended by solicitor Chris Read, had transmitted messages of an indecent, obscene, or threatening nature in Lea, near Ross-on-Wye, from January 28 to February 9.
This act constitutes an offence under the Communications Act 2003.
The court confirmed that the messages were sent through a public electronic communication system and that Furnell, residing at Old Market Close in Ross-on-Wye, was responsible for their transmission.
Furnell was granted unconditional bail by the magistrates in Hereford, with his sentencing scheduled for September 10.
A pre-sentence report will be compiled by the probation service before the next hearing at Hereford Magistrates’ Court next month.
