FRED RIGBY FROM SNEYD GREEN CONVICTED OF MULTIPLE INDECENT ASSAULTS IN STOKE-ON-TRENT
A 69-year-old man named Fred Rigby, who hails from the Sneyd Green area, has been found guilty of committing several serious crimes involving the sexual assault of young girls under the age of 14. These disturbing incidents took place over a span of three years, from 1989 to 1992, and have now culminated in a court conviction that marks a significant development in the ongoing fight against child abuse.Rigby appeared before Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on Monday, 17 April, where he chose to plead guilty to a total of seven separate charges of indecent assault. The court proceedings revealed the gravity of his actions, which have left a lasting impact on the victims and their families. The court has scheduled his sentencing for June, during which authorities will determine the appropriate punishment for his crimes.
The case was overseen by Detective David Morgan, a dedicated officer from Staffordshire Police’s RASSO (Rape and Serious Sexual Offences) team. In a statement, Detective Morgan commended the courage of the victims who came forward to report the abuse, emphasizing their bravery in the face of trauma. He also issued a message of reassurance to others who may have suffered similar abuse in the past, urging them to come forward and seek justice. Morgan stated, "I would like to commend the victims' bravery in coming forward to report Rigby to us. I hope this brings some comfort to the victims, who continue to come to terms with what happened to them. I would encourage anyone affected by non-recent child sexual abuse to get in touch with us as you will be believed, supported and offenders will be brought to justice."
