SNEYD GREEN PERVERT DARREN STANDEVEN JAILED FOR CHILD ABUSE VIDEOS AND IMAGES
In July 2017, Darren Standeven, a 33-year-old resident of Sneyd Green, was sentenced to prison after a disturbing investigation uncovered his involvement in the possession and distribution of child abuse material. The case came to light when police executed a search warrant at his home on Ralph Drive in Sneyd Green last September, leading to the seizure of multiple electronic devices.During the search, authorities discovered a significant collection of illegal content, including 293 photographs depicting child abuse. The analysis of the devices revealed that Standeven had not only stored these images but also engaged in the distribution of such material through online messaging platforms. Specifically, he used Kik to send indecent images and videos to others with similar interests.
The evidence presented in Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court detailed the severity of his offenses. Prosecutor Nigel Booth explained that the devices contained 224 images classified as Category A, indicating the most serious level of abuse, along with 54 images in Category B and 15 in Category C. Additionally, there were three charges related to the distribution of indecent images, with 11 images in Category A, two in Category B, and two in Category C. Among the most disturbing evidence was a video that streamed the sexual assault of a two-year-old boy, which was also recovered during the investigation.
Further analysis of Standeven’s electronic communications revealed messages where he explicitly expressed a preference for very young children, stating his interest was in children in the 'single digits.' These messages were exchanged with others who shared similar disturbing interests. Despite the overwhelming evidence, Standeven denied having any sexual interest in children during the court proceedings.
Judge Paul Glenn sentenced Standeven to 20 months in prison, acknowledging his guilty plea and previous good character. The judge emphasized the gravity of the crimes, stating, “Some were extremely young and vulnerable, and in obvious distress,” and condemned the streaming and distribution of such material as causing irreparable harm to the victims. The court also imposed an indefinite sexual harm prevention order, restricting Standeven from engaging in activities involving children and vulnerable adults.
Standeven’s actions have been widely condemned, highlighting the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat child exploitation and protect vulnerable victims from further harm.
