FRANK REIDFORD AKA JOHN JONES FROM FRASERBURGH AND INVERURIE JAILED FOR REPEATED COURT ORDER BREACHES
In a recent development in the ongoing efforts to curb the actions of convicted sex offenders, Frank Reidford, also known as John Jones, has been sentenced to six months in prison after he was found to have violated a court order that strictly prohibited him from approaching or making contact with minors. The incident took place in Fraserburgh, where Reidford was discovered engaging in a conversation with a 16-year-old girl within the communal kitchen of his bedsit accommodation.Reidford's history of offending is extensive and troubling. He has a prior conviction for stalking children in Inverurie, which dates back to 2006. During that earlier case, he was found guilty of following two girls aged 14 and 15, as well as a 14-year-old boy, repeatedly. His inappropriate behavior included making lewd remarks, engaging in physical contact such as cuddling, and even distributing cigarettes to the minors. For these offenses, he was sentenced to a maximum of three months in jail, although he was released after serving nearly the entire sentence, with the term backdated to October 2 of that year.
In addition to his stalking conviction, Reidford has a history of lewd and libidinous behavior, which further underscores the pattern of predatory conduct. His criminal record also includes an incident in August of the previous year, when he was incarcerated for six months after admitting to breaching a court order by speaking to a 14-year-old girl while she was sunbathing in her grandmother’s garden. This breach of court restrictions highlights a persistent disregard for legal boundaries designed to protect minors.
Most recently, Reidford appeared before Peterhead Sheriff Court to face charges of breaching a sexual offences prevention order issued in October 2008 at Banff Sheriff Court. The order explicitly forbids him from approaching, contacting, or communicating with children under the age of 17. During the court proceedings, his defense attorney, Stuart Flowerdew, clarified that there was no suggestion of grooming or any improper intent behind his contact with the 16-year-old girl in Fraserburgh. The lawyer explained that the interactions were limited to casual conversations, often initiated when the girl was upset after arguments with her boyfriend, and that there was no evidence of any malicious or predatory behavior.
Sheriff Marysia Lewis acknowledged the passive nature of Reidford’s conduct but emphasized the seriousness of the repeated breaches. She pointed out that this was the third violation of the court order within a year, which led to her sentencing him to an additional six months behind bars. Reidford, who is currently identified as a prisoner in Aberdeen, was thus remanded and sentenced accordingly, reflecting the judiciary’s stance on repeated violations of court-imposed restrictions meant to safeguard minors from potential harm.
