A Middlesbrough man has admitted “leaning on a car bonnet and masturbating”.

Faizan Hussain initially denied outraging public decency in Middlesbrough when he appeared at Teesside Magistrates' Court in May.

But on Wednesday, the 39-year-old owned up to his crime.

Hussain pleaded guilty to “leaning on a car bonnet and masturbating, then walking down the street with your genitals exposed and masturbating outside Tesco.” The incident happened on October 19, last year.

Hussain, of Hutton Road, in Longlands , behaved in an "indecent manner” in a “public place”, court documents add.

Kate Clarke, mitigating, stated that the matter was listed for trial but Hussain has “made the decision to plead guilty”.

The solicitor asked for a pre-sentence report to be prepared before Hussain learns his fate as the offence can attract a community order or a prison sentence.

The magistrates’ bench agreed to the report.

Hussain will return to Teesside Magistrates' Court on September 18 for sentencing.
