PAEDOPHILE EDWARD BROLLY JAILED AGAIN FOR SEXUALLY ABUSING GIRL IN PAISLEY
A heinous offender, Edward Brolly, aged 87, has been sentenced to 27 months in prison for sexually abusing a young girl over an extensive period from February 2013 to February 2021.The court learned that Brolly had previously been jailed in January for a 54-month sentence related to similar offenses.
The victim vividly recalled four specific incidents of abuse, with additional unspecified occasions.
She described how Brolly would put his hand inside her nappy and commit sexual assault when she was very young.
He also repeatedly asked her if she 'liked it' and 'did it feel good.' The abuse continued as she grew older, including incidents at a property in Paisley and elsewhere, where he performed sexual acts and made her touch him.
The court heard she also remembered a time when Brolly placed her hand on his penis, feeling confused and uncomfortable due to her young age.
Authorities traced Brolly at his home on November 15 of the previous year, during which he was cautioned and charged on the spot because he was deemed unfit for interview.
His initial reaction to the caution was dismissive, claiming the allegations were fabricated, and he questioned how long he would be detained, suggesting awareness of his health issues.
His defense highlighted his significant health problems, including prostate, skin, and bone cancers, as well as poor mobility.
Despite this, the sheriff emphasized the severe impact of Brolly's actions on the victim's life, stating, “You’ve ruined her life,” and accordingly sentenced him to an additional 27 months, starting after he completes his current sentence.
The court noted Brolly's previous conviction for similar abuse and reflected on the devastating effect on the victims’ childhoods.
