OBAN SHINTY COACH JAILED FOR SEX OFFENCES INVOLVING 14-YEAR-OLD GIRL
A SHAMED radio presenter who persuaded a 14-year-old girl to film him having sex with her mum was yesterday jailed for five years.Former Oban Celtic shinty coach Duncan Forgrieve, 51, plied the schoolgirl with alcohol and downed 16 drinks himself before the sordid film was made.
At the High Court in Edinburgh, his lawyer pleaded for leniency and stressed that Forgrieve had made a big contribution to community life.
But Lord McEwan said there would be "public outrage" if he didn't jail him for the serious offence.
Forgrieve was forced to step down from his presenting job at Oban FM when the offences came to light and he was sacked from his cemetery foreman's job.
He denied the charge and a jury were forced to watch the video in which Forgrieve is seen astride the naked woman, who was described as "paralytic" and almost unconscious.
Forgrieve, of Oban, Argyll, was convicted of using lewd, indecent and libidinous practices towards the schoolgirl between October 19, 1998, and March 31, 2000, by inducing her to consume alcohol and video him having sex with her mother.
But he was cleared of charges of raping them.
When asked by John Hamilton, prosecuting, if the video showed him having sex with the woman he admitted it did.
Forgrieve, a well known musician in the Oban area, claimed she was a willing partner and denied having any sexual contact with the girl.
He added: "I'm a bit of a rascal but I wouldn't harm a child in any form." Stewart Ronnie, defending, said: "He is extremely remorseful for what he has done and has difficulty understanding why he became involved in this." Lord McEwan also placed Forgrieve on the sex offenders' register.
