OBAN MAN DAVID OGILVIE FOUND GUILTY OF FOUR-YEAR DOMESTIC ABUSE CAMPAIGN
David Ogilvie wept in the dock as the jury returned their verdict. He was convicted after a four-day trial of a four-year campaign of domestic abuse that posed a danger to life.
The court heard harrowing testimony from his former partner, who described an escalation of violence starting from an argument over unwashed dishes in Bonawe near Oban, which on April 21, 2023, culminated in physical assault.
She reported that Ogilvie pushed her face onto the kitchen counter and then threw her into a wall, causing her injuries including a broken finger and bruising.
When she returned to collect belongings for the children, she was assaulted again, dragged by her hair and threatened with death.
The woman also testified about Ogilvie shouting at her over the phone, making false accusations, monitoring her location, calling her names, throwing objects, and threatening her with harm.
Neighbors heard loud arguments, and she later found bleeding and frightened.
Ogilvie initially claimed the incident was self-defense and suggested his partner was the aggressor, but the jury found him guilty of a course of abusive behavior over nearly four years, from May 1, 2019, to April 21, 2023.
Among his previous convictions are assault (2004 and 2012), possession of heroin with intent to supply (2017), and abduction and assault (2018).
The sheriff considered a custodial sentence, supervision, and a non-harassment order, with sentencing scheduled for September 17.
Ogilvie was remanded in custody pending reports.
