DOUGLAS BAKER SENTENCED TO THREE YEARS IN PRISON FOR SEX OFFENCES IN HEREFORD
A man from Hereford has been handed a prison sentence of three years after being found guilty of committing multiple serious sex-related crimes.Douglas Baker, aged 70, whose address is Marlbrook Road, appeared at Worcester Crown Court on Wednesday, December 14, where his fate was officially decided.
Earlier this year, Baker admitted to committing five separate offences that took place over a span of three years, from 2019 to 2022.
These offences included two counts of attempting to induce an underage girl to participate in sexual activities, engaging in sexual communication with a minor, voyeurism through recording a private act, and producing an indecent photograph of a child.
The court's conviction means Baker will now be registered on the sex offenders register for the rest of his life.
The decision to imprison Baker highlights the serious stance that authorities take against individuals who commit such heinous acts, especially against vulnerable minors.
Detective Constable Harriet Wheadon-Hill from West Mercia Police emphasized the importance of accountability, stating, “This sentence demonstrates that abusing young girls will not be tolerated or ignored.
Through thorough police investigations and the bravery of the victims who chose to come forward, we are able to uncover the truth and ensure justice is served.” She further reaffirmed the police department’s commitment to supporting survivors of sexual abuse and rape, adding, “West Mercia Police remains dedicated to seeking justice for victims and survivors of sexual violence.
Our department, along with support services, continues to stand with those affected, providing assistance and pursuing those responsible for such offences in Hereford.”
