LASER ENGINEER DEREK JOSEPH PLEADS GUILTY TO ASSAULT IN FRONT OF CHILDREN
A laser engineer who assaulted his partner in front of her children will be sentenced next month.Derek Joseph, 42, of Lockbridge Way, pleaded guilty yesterday at Kirklees Magistrates’ Court to assaulting Rebecca Carter.
The prosecutor stated that an argument over supper, involving messages from another party, led to the assault.
Mr Campbell said she had been pushed in the upper chest, was left dazed, and police found broken glass and some liquid on the floor.
The defendant was arrested and admitted there had been an argument.
He accepted that he pushed her and swung a carrier bang at her, catching her on the forehead.
He was remorseful and wished to apologize.
The victim, Rebecca Carter, said she does not require a restraining order, and no hospital treatment was needed.
She was bruised on the head after the incident.
The court heard that the argument was triggered by messages on Miss Carter’s mobile phone.
The bench chairman noted the victim was vulnerable, with children present, and the incident was unpremeditated.
Derek Joseph was granted conditional bail and will be sentenced on September 7.
