CONTROLLING VEGAN AND ABUSIVE PARTNER SENTENCED FOR DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
A controlling and abusive individual named Christopher Ellam, of Quarry Road in Milnsbridge, has been found guilty of multiple offenses related to domestic violence.
Ellam repeatedly subjected his girlfriend to verbal and physical abuse, including calling her derogatory names such as 'fat disgusting bitch' and 'ugly c**t', and used a vinegar bottle to hit her, causing bruising.
He also tore up her clothing, damaged her personal belongings, and sent her a significant number of abusive messages on Facebook.
Ellam controlled what she watched on TV and became angry over the presence of other men on screen, citing it as a house rule that no meat was eaten within their flat, even though he denied controlling behavior.
The victim described her fear and how his violent actions have severely impacted her mental health, leading to anxiety, depression, and sleep disturbances from nightmares.
She expressed that her life has been ruined by the relationship and that she now feels isolated, unable to work, and has lost trust in people.
Magistrates sentenced Ellam to a community order including the 33-day Building Better Relationships program, up to 10 rehabilitation activity days, 200 hours of unpaid work, and ordered him to pay the victim £500 in compensation, plus court costs and a victim surcharge.
Additionally, Ellam was given a two-year restraining order banning him from contacting her or going to her home.
