LUTON MAN DELROY HENTON SENTENCED TO 20 YEARS FOR SEXUAL OFFENCES AGAINST GIRL
In September 2017, a judge sentenced Delroy Henton, a 61-year-old man from Luton, to 20 years in prison for sexually abusing a girl over several years.
The court heard that Henton exploited and groomed the girl, who was between the ages of 10 and 14 at the time of the abuse.
The victim confided in a friend, leading to the police being contacted after she discussed her experiences with her head teacher.
Henton was found guilty of three counts of rape, assault by penetration, and engaging in sexual activity with a child.
Despite his previous reputation for good character, Judge Michael Kay QC described Henton’s conduct as "wholly despicable" and emphasized the gravity of his actions.
In delivering the sentence, the judge stated, "This is a persistent long course of serious offending against a child.
It is wholly despicable.
You exploited and groomed a child for your own sexual interest." Henton will also be required to register as a sex offender for life.
