DEANGELO BROWN ATTACKS LUTON TEENAGER IN BROAD DAYLIGHT NEAR HARLESDEN HIGH STREET
In a disturbing incident that shocked the local community, Deangelo Brown, a 23-year-old man from Luton, was convicted of raping a 15-year-old girl in broad daylight near Harlesden High Street. The assault occurred on the morning of Tuesday, March 10, 2021, in an alleyway off Harlesden High Street, a busy area in northwest London known for its vibrant street life and bustling bus stops.
According to court reports, Brown approached the young girl while she was waiting at a bus stop, asking her age and then demanding she follow him.
Under the threat of what was believed to be a weapon, the terrified teenager complied and was led into a nearby alley.
It was in this secluded spot that Brown committed the heinous act of sexual assault, leaving her visibly distressed and in shock.
Witnesses nearby, alarmed by the girl’s screams and sobs, intervened and came to her aid.
One of these witnesses managed to record part of the incident on their mobile phone, capturing the distress and the assault itself.
The witness then called the police and stayed with the girl, providing comfort until authorities arrived.
The police responded swiftly, arresting Brown in the vicinity shortly after the attack.
Following the incident, the young victim was taken to a local police station, where she received support from specially trained officers.
She was also able to identify her attacker during an identity parade, which contributed significantly to the case against Brown.
Evidence collected included CCTV footage from the area, which showed Brown in the vicinity at the time of the assault, and mobile phone recordings of the attack.
Brown’s trial at Harrow Crown Court concluded with a guilty verdict on Tuesday, September 15, 2020, on charges of rape and sexual activity with a child.
The court sentenced him to nine years in prison, with an additional four years on license, emphasizing the severity of his crime.
During the proceedings, Brown maintained that he was a victim of mistaken identity, but the jury found the evidence against him compelling and conclusive.
Kerry McNulty, representing the Crown Prosecution Service, expressed her condemnation of the attack, stating, “This was a horrific sexual assault in broad daylight on a child in school uniform.
The prosecution’s case included CCTV evidence and mobile phone footage, and the victim was able to identify her attacker during the trial.
Brown showed no remorse and subjected his victim to the trauma of a trial despite the overwhelming evidence.
The jury’s decision was clear, and justice has been served.” In addition to the prison sentence, the court awarded £800 to the witness who intervened during the attack, recognizing their bravery and assistance in the case.
The incident has raised concerns about safety in the area and the importance of community vigilance in protecting vulnerable individuals from such heinous acts.
