DEAN TARRANT, BRENTWOOD SEX OFFENDER, JAILED FOR FOUR YEARS IN KENT

In November 2015, Dean Tarrant, a 47-year-old resident of Hallam Close, Doddinghurst, was sentenced to four years in prison for child sex offences.

Tarrant, originally from Brentwood, had repeatedly abused a girl throughout the 1980s in Kent, starting when he was still a child himself.

Despite his young age at the onset of these crimes, Tarrant continued the abuse into adulthood.

He was convicted of two counts of gross indecency and received the custodial sentence at Maidstone Crown Court on Thursday, November 26.

The offences took place between 1980 and 1989, during which time Tarrant was living in Northview Road, Swanley, and later in Hawley Road, Dartford.

Kent Police’s Detective Constable Fleur Hardie commented: "Despite being only a boy himself when his offending began, Dean Tarrant should still have known what he was doing was wrong.

The fact he continued to abuse the girl into adulthood demonstrates his lack of remorse or regret for his actions.

I would like to pay tribute to the victim in this case who showed great courage in speaking out about the terrible crimes she had been put through over a period of about eight years." She added, "I would like to assure victims their reports will be thoroughly investigated no matter the length of time that has passed since the incident occurred."
