DARTFORD SEX OFFENDER SENTENCED FOR DECADES-OLD ABUSE
A sex offender from Dartford, Paul Perry, who committed abuse against a young victim over 35 years ago during the 1980s, has been sentenced to prison.Kent Police initiated an investigation into Perry after the offences were reported in 2019.
Perry, who lived on Hilltop Gardens, was previously subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order because of prior convictions.
He was arrested in December 2019 and charged with multiple offences.
Perry was convicted in Canterbury Crown Court of three counts of gross indecency with a child and one count of indecent assault, after denying the charges.
He was sentenced last Wednesday (July 16) to a maximum of one year in prison, with an additional year on licence following his release.
Perry was also ordered to register as a sex offender for seven years.
Detective Sergeant Frank Bloomfield highlighted the importance of victims coming forward regardless of the time elapsed, emphasizing that Perry’s crimes have had a lasting impact on the victim and expressing hope that this conviction provides some closure.
