DRUNK WOMAN EXPOSED HERSELF TO 999 WORKERS
A drunk woman who exposed her private parts to emergency medical staff several times and made vulgar suggestions while they were trying to treat her has been ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register.Naomi Tunkara was spotted by a member of the public looking extremely intoxicated, unwell and breathless at the Inn on the Lake, at Shorne, near Gravesend, in August.
An ambulance was called, and when a crew attempted to treat her and take her to Darent Valley Hospital in Dartford, she became agitated en route, trying to remove the seatbelt restraints from the stretcher she was on.
She caused such a commotion that the ambulance pulled over onto the hard shoulder of the A2 so she could be restrained again.
A court heard that as paramedics got her under control, knickerless Tunkara opened her legs wide so her private parts could be seen, and she started to urinate on the stretcher.
Paramedics put a blanket over her, but when they arrived at the hospital in Darenth Wood Road, Tunkara then tried to grab people.
Despite being asked to stop, the 45-year-old continued to shout and swear.
A member of staff at the hospital also approached her and told her to calm down and stop swearing, but she then opened her legs again, exposing herself to him and a colleague, and saying: “My p**** is good.” In the hospital, Tunkara tried to pull down a curtain around the bed, threw herself to the floor and kicked out at the right leg of one staff member, which caused a red mark.
She then again made remarks about her genitals.
The police were called, but as they tried to arrest her, she began talking incoherently and rolling around on the floor, and again opened her legs wide and exposed herself.
After being lifted back onto the bed, Tunkara was then heard to say to one nurse that she had taken crack [cocaine] and then announced that she could urinate in the bed, and deliberately did so.
All her comments were caught on body-worn video footage.
As officers tried to wheel her out to a police van, Tunkara started shouting at a female officer again, saying: "I will kick you in the face b****".
She then became even more aggressive and repeatedly said to the officer: “You b****”, and “f*** off you b****”, and then refused to get off the bed and into the back of the cell van.
As one officer lifted her to put her in the vehicle, she resisted again, twice kicking out at an officer.
The incident happened in Dartford, on August 30, and Tunkara, of Bapchild Avenue, Sittingbourne, admitted indecent exposure, two counts of criminal damage, one count of assault by beating and one count of assault on an emergency worker when she appeared in court in September.
Sentencing was adjourned for reports to suggest suitable ways forward, and Tunkara returned to Medway Magistrates’ Court on December 18.
Magistrates placed Tunkara on an 18-month community order for exposing herself, which will see her attend several rehabilitation sessions, and she must wear an alcohol abstinence monitoring tag for 120 days.
She was also fined £180 for each assault and ordered to pay each victim £50 compensation.
There were no separate penalties for the criminal damage charges but Tunkara was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £114 and £85 court costs.
She was also made subject to the notification requirements of the sex offenders’ register for five years.
