VIOLENT ABUSER JAILED
A Rochester man convicted of serious abuse, who once attempted to hide inside a fridge to avoid arrest, has been jailed.Dean Foord was taken into custody following a report from his victim, detailing six months of both psychological and physical mistreatment.
Throughout this period, Foord exerted control over her social media profiles, isolated her from friends and family, and prohibited her from leaving the house without his permission.
On one particular occasion, he confined her to a room and only released her after forcing her to bark like a dog.
He squandered her money on gambling, drugs, alcohol, and scratch cards.
She was denied access to a mobile phone, and whenever she managed to obtain one, Foord intentionally damaged it.
He also coerced her into selling her phone to settle his drug debts.
Foord’s violence was also severe; he once dragged her by the neck, pushed her to the ground, and struck her head against the floor.
In an attempt to escape, she followed him to another property, where he responded by throwing a brick through a window, causing fear for the safety of a nearby homeowner.
He recorded himself threatening her with a knife, claiming he intended to kill her, and also doused her with a bucket of dirty water.
The 33-year-old, residing on Brooker Close, Rochester, was detained in December 2025.
During the arrest, officers discovered he was in possession of cocaine.
He faced charges and, after a trial, was convicted of actual bodily harm, criminal damage, threats to kill, common assault, controlling and coercive behaviour, and possession of a Class A drug.
On Tuesday, June 30, at Maidstone Crown Court, he received a three-year prison sentence.
