DEAN BEER OF CWMBRAN SENTENCED TO JAIL FOR BESTIALITY AND CHILD PORNOGRAPHY IN STOKE-ON-TRENT

Dean Beer, born around 1965 and residing on Wentloog Close in Cwmbran (NP44 3PP), was convicted in 2022 of heinous crimes involving bestiality and indecent images. The investigation revealed that Beer, a father-of-two, recorded himself sexually abusing his dog and sent the footage to an unidentified individual via Facebook Messenger.

The disturbing material was discovered after police, acting on information from the National Crime Agency, visited Beer’s home on July 21, 2020. During the search, officers recovered a Land Rover mobile phone containing illegal images. Prosecutor Maria Brannan explained that the device held two inaccessible Category C images of girls aged 13 to 15, along with three extreme pornographic images and six still plus two moving images depicting adult women engaged in penetrative sexual acts with dogs and a horse. Additionally, Beer had searched for the term 'dog porn' six times.

The court learned that Beer, who was previously from Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, had expressed an unhealthy and depraved interest in bestiality. The police found a conversation on Facebook Messenger between Beer, using the alias 'Taffy Dean,' and another individual who has not been arrested. Brannan described the conversation as concerning, stating: "The conversation concerned sexual abuse of the defendant’s dog. The other person encouraged the defendant to film himself performing a penetrative sex act on his dog. The defendant did the act and sent the film to the other person."

The police also uncovered a troubling online pattern. Beer had used the search term 'dog porn' six times and possessed graphic images and videos depicting sexually explicit acts involving animals and humans. The fate of the dog involved remains unknown.

In court, Beer pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including possession of indecent images of children, possession of extreme pornographic images, engaging in sexual acts with an animal, and publishing obscene material. His defense argued that Beer, who had no prior convictions, had now lost his good character and expressed remorse. Andrew Molloy, representing Beer, said: "He is quite embarrassed about his conduct. He says it is out of character for him to behave in this way. He has not been involved in any trouble for nearly two years. He has self-referred to a mental health institution and is engaging well."

Despite these claims, the judge, David Fletcher, emphasized the repulsiveness of Beer’s actions. The judge stated: “The exchanges on Facebook were some of the most sickening exchanges I have ever had to read about and deal with. You are someone who had an unhealthy and depraved interest in bestiality. Penetrating your own pet dog with your penis is as shocking as it is depraved.”

Judge Fletcher sentenced Beer to nine months in prison. He also imposed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), required Beer to sign the sex offenders’ register for nine years, and ordered the forfeiture and destruction of the phone. The court’s ruling leaves the question of the dog’s current status unresolved.
