2017: BROMSGROVE THUG DAYTONA BRECKNELL HAS BEEN JAILED FOR IMPRISONING AND BEATING HIS EX
A 'CONTROLLING' and 'manipulative' man from Bromsgrove beat and imprisoned his ex at her home, ordered her to strip and took photographs of her.Daytona Brecknell lost his temper when he found out his ex had been in contact with her former boyfriend, subjecting her to a five-hour ordeal where she was assaulted, tied up and gagged.
The imprisonment happened in King's Norton in 2012 but the pair got a flat together in Bromsgrove in 2015.
The 26-year-old, who now lives in Parkdale Drive, Longbridge, appeared at Worcester Crown Court on Wednesday, his head bowed in the dock, after admitting false imprisonment.
Siobhan Collins, prosecuting, said: “He pushed her around her room into a wardrobe.
He beat her.
He told her to get undressed and threatened he would make her go outside naked.
“He tied her hands behind her back with a shoelace, put something in her mouth and kicked her in the ribs.
He took photographs of her in that state.
“This ordeal lasted five hours.” The next day he apologised, insisting he had ‘blacked out’ and had no memory of what he had done.
In a previous case, Brecknell became angry when he stepped in dog urine and kicked the dog while screaming at her.
Miss Collins added: “He was seen to throw a screwdriver at her and tried to bite her cheek and made verbal threats to burn the house down.” Brecknell also admitted breaching a harassment order and two separate assaults in Bromsgrove, where he grabbed and punched the victim, threw a phone at her and kicked her in the face.
One of the common assaults took place on May 13 this year, when he struck her with a vacuum pole and poked her in the eye with it.
Miss Collins said: “He spoke of having a shotgun.” The victim told police she had suffered nightmares as a result.
Brecknell had a string of previous convictions, including arson, criminal damage, assault, possession of an offensive weapon, burglary, battery, handling stolen goods and driving offences.
Lee Egan, defending, said the false imprisonment was now five years ago.
"Your honour will note from the report a pretty miserable upbringing," he told the court.
Recorder Martin Jackson said Brecknell had 'an unenviable record' and described him as exercising 'controlling' and 'manipulative' behaviour.
He jailed Brecknell for three years and made a restraining order in respect of the victim.
