DAVID WITKISS CAUGHT IN ELLESMERE PORT BY PAEDOPHILE HUNTING TEAM SILENT JUSTICE

In August 2018, a disturbing case unfolded involving a man from Ellesmere Port who was caught in a sting operation conducted by the paedophile hunting group known as 'Silent Justice.'

David Witkiss, aged 48, appeared before the court to face charges related to his online conduct. He pleaded guilty to engaging in sexual communication with a minor, a serious offense that highlights the dangers of online grooming and the importance of vigilant law enforcement.

The court proceedings revealed that Witkiss had initiated contact with an online profile he believed belonged to a young girl. During the exchange, he introduced himself and was met with a reply that explicitly identified the recipient as a 13-year-old girl. This reply was part of an online decoy set up by 'Silent Justice,' a team dedicated to catching individuals attempting to groom minors through digital platforms.

Witkiss's messages were deeply inappropriate and sexually charged. He expressed a desire to engage in sexual activities with the girl, discussing in detail his fantasies and fetishes, including a specific interest in young girls' underwear. His communications demonstrated a clear intent to pursue illegal and exploitative acts.

Fortunately, the entire interaction was monitored by the 'Silent Justice' team, who posed as the young girl to lure in potential offenders. Once Witkiss's intentions were made clear, authorities intervened to prevent any real harm.

In sentencing, the judge opted for a community order that will last for three years, emphasizing the importance of rehabilitation and supervision over incarceration in this case. Additionally, Witkiss was ordered to spend the next five years on the sex offenders register. He is also required to comply with a sexual harm prevention order for the same period, which aims to restrict his activities and prevent further offending.

This case underscores the ongoing efforts of law enforcement and volunteer groups like 'Silent Justice' to protect children from online predators and bring offenders to justice. It also serves as a stark reminder of the dangers lurking in digital spaces and the need for vigilance among parents, guardians, and the community at large.
