ALFRETON PAEDOPHILE DAVID TWINAME CONVICTED OF MULTIPLE RAPE AND ABUSE CHARGES IN DERBYSHIRE
In a significant case that has shocked the community of Alfreton and the wider Derbyshire area, David Twiname, a 74-year-old resident of Wingfield Road in Alfreton, has been found guilty of a series of heinous sexual offenses spanning over a decade. The convictions include ten counts of rape and eight counts of indecent assault, with many of the victims being children, and the crimes dating back to the early 1980s and continuing into the mid-1990s.Following a detailed 10-day trial at Derby Crown Court, the jury deliberated extensively before reaching a verdict. Twiname, who initially denied many of the allegations, was ultimately convicted on multiple charges. The court found him guilty of five counts of raping a girl under the age of 16, as well as three counts of indecently assaulting a girl under 16. Additionally, he was convicted of five counts of raping a woman aged 16 or over, and two counts of indecently assaulting an adult woman. The evidence presented also included Twiname’s own admission of indecently assaulting a boy under 16.
In a disturbing revelation during the proceedings, Twiname admitted to possessing indecent images of children, along with one extreme image depicting intercourse with an animal. These charges add a further layer of depravity to his criminal record. The case also involved two co-defendants who had previously pleaded guilty before the trial commenced. Both were convicted of various offenses related to the case.
One of the co-defendants, Antoinette Holroyd, aged 78, admitted to indecently assaulting a boy under 16. The other, Judith Button, aged 59 and Twiname’s wife, also of Wingfield Road, confessed to engaging in penetrative intercourse with a dog and was also charged with possessing an indecent photograph of a child. During the initial day of the trial, evidence was presented that detailed the involvement of both Button and Twiname in sexual activities with a dog, which they had filmed. Prosecutor Graham Huston highlighted that the relationship between Twiname and Button dated back to the 1980s, with the couple marrying in 2014.
All three defendants are scheduled to be sentenced at a later date, with the court yet to fix a specific date for the sentencing hearing. The case has left a lasting impact on the local community, raising serious concerns about the safety and well-being of vulnerable individuals in the area of Alfreton and beyond.
