SIDNEY DABLES FROM ALFRETON SENTENCED IN DERBYSHIRE FOR MULTIPLE SEX OFFENCES INVOLVING CHILDREN

In a case that has spanned several decades and involved multiple victims, Sidney Dables, a man originally from Mansfield Road, Alfreton, has been sentenced in Derbyshire for a series of heinous sexual offences committed against young children. The proceedings took place at Derby Crown Court, where the gravity of Dables' crimes was laid bare.

It was revealed that Dables, now aged 77, had a long history of sexual abuse, including a conviction in 2006 for raping a girl in the 1970s when she was as young as 10 years old. He was also found guilty of offering her up to a friend, further compounding the severity of his crimes. At that time, Dables was serving a sentence of 10 years, which was due for parole in 2012.

However, the case took a disturbing turn when new allegations emerged involving a second victim, a girl who was as young as five when the abuse began. The young girl endured the trauma from the age of five until she was nine, but initially, she did not feel able to report the abuse to authorities. It was only after her boyfriend encouraged her to revisit the police in 2015 that charges were brought against Dables.

During the trial, Dables initially denied the allegations but, on the day his case was scheduled to commence, he unexpectedly pleaded guilty to five counts of indecent assault against the young girl. The court heard that the abuse had taken place in the early 1990s, and the victim had confided in her family about the ordeal in 2006, though she did not pursue the matter at that time.

The court was also informed that Dables had a history of complicity in sexual offences involving other minors. In 2006, he admitted to four charges of raping a girl under 13 and aiding his former colleague, Dennis White, in the sexual abuse of the same girl. Dables had given evidence against White, claiming that both of them had raped the young girl after viewing pornographic magazines together. He testified that White had asked him to bring the girl to his house so White could also assault her, and Dables claimed to have witnessed White raping her multiple times.
