WESTON-SUPER-MARE MAN JAILED FOR STABBING MOTHER IN HORRIFIC ATTACK
A man convicted of multiple stab wounds to his mother has been sentenced to 19 years in prison after being found guilty of attempted murder.Court proceedings at Bristol Crown Court detailed how David Sosa Salomon, 37, traveled from his home on Oldmixon Crescent in Weston-super-Mare to the vicinity of Filton near Bristol on February 28, 2023.
He lay in wait for his mother at a bus stop and attacked her, stabbing her in the neck.
Salomon had previously admitted to intending to cause serious harm during the incident.
The jury reached a verdict in December, and the sentencing took place shortly after.
Witnesses noted that bystanders acted quickly to assist the victim during the assault.
She expressed appreciation for their help, and the judge acknowledged their bravery.
Detective Constable Paul Davey of Avon and Somerset Police stated that Salomon planned the attack beforehand and inflicted severe violence upon his mother.
Although she received stitches after the attack, the prompt response of the public prevented more severe injuries.
Lucy Coleman of the Crown Prosecution Service highlighted that the jury rejected Salomon's claim that his goal was only serious injury, not attempted murder.
She described the attack as deeply disturbing, pointing out how he stabbed her in the neck and continued assaulting her while she was on the ground, emphasizing that the consequences could have been graver without the courageous intervention of bystanders.
