A man who used to be an assistant headteacher in West Sussex has admitted to attempting to communicate sexually with a minor.
David Rogers, 48, from Eriswell Road in Worthing, came to the authorities’ notice after he exchanged sexual messages via social media and sought to meet a 13-year-old boy in December 2024.
It was established that Rogers was the person operating the online profiles involved in the exchanges.
He was arrested on January 23, 2025, with subsequent investigations confirming that he was responsible for the accounts.
Rogers previously held positions at Littlehampton Academy as an assistant headteacher and at Goring Primary School as chair of governors.
Both positions were terminated in 2022, before this criminal investigation began.
He no longer works in a capacity that involves contact with children.
He faced charges for attempting to engage in sexual communications with a minor.
On April 30, at Lewes Crown Court, he pleaded guilty to these charges.
Rogers has been released on conditional bail and is set to be sentenced on June 26 at the same court.
