IAN CROCKFORD FROM WORTHING SENTENCED FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES AND ILLEGAL IMAGES
Ian Crockford, a 52-year-old resident of Stone Lane in Salvington, Worthing, has been formally sentenced after a series of serious criminal activities involving child exploitation and possession of illegal images.Crockford, who was already under a strict Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) due to previous child sex offences committed in 2019, faced new charges that revealed a disturbing pattern of behavior.
His SHPO was designed to impose severe restrictions on his access to digital devices and vulnerable individuals, aiming to prevent any further harm.
However, on 7 March 2023, authorities received new intelligence indicating that Crockford was in possession of additional indecent images of children.
This prompted a thorough investigation, which led to his arrest.
An analysis of his mobile phone and computers uncovered hundreds of indecent images depicting children, some of which he had shared online.
Further investigations revealed that Crockford had not only possessed these images but also instructed another individual on how to abuse a child, highlighting the severity of his criminal conduct.
Following these discoveries, Crockford was formally charged with six counts of making or distributing indecent images of a child, one count of publishing an obscene article, and a breach of his existing SHPO.
He appeared before Worthing Magistrates Court on 12 December 2023, where he pleaded guilty to all charges.
He was subsequently released on court bail while awaiting sentencing.
However, during this period, authorities uncovered further violations of his bail conditions.
Officers found that Crockford had obtained a new mobile phone and had attempted to engage in sexual communication with children, which was a direct breach of his court-imposed restrictions.
Additional indecent images were also discovered on his new device.
As a result, Crockford was re-arrested and faced additional charges, including four counts of making or distributing indecent images, publishing an obscene article, and breaching his SHPO once again.
He admitted to all these new charges, and on 29 February 2024, he was brought before Lewes Crown Court.
The court sentenced him to three years in prison for all the offences, marking a significant step in the ongoing efforts to combat child exploitation and protect vulnerable individuals in the Worthing area.
