A Halifax man has been sent to prison after police uncovered a massive collection of illegal child abuse images stored on his mobile phone.David Pluta appeared before court after digital forensic officers examined his device and discovered close to 1,000 indecent images and videos involving children.
The material was uncovered during a police investigation into online child exploitation.
Specialist officers analysed the phone and quickly realised the scale of what had been saved.
The device contained hundreds of files depicting the abuse of children, some of them falling into the most serious categories of illegal imagery.
Prosecutors told the court that Pluta had deliberately kept the material on his phone.
The collection was uncovered after investigators carried out a detailed forensic examination of the device.
After hearing the evidence, the judge condemned the offences and sent Pluta to prison.
