DAVID PICKEN FROM BIDDULPH SENTENCED AFTER POLICE DISCOVER THOUSANDS OF CHILD INDECENT IMAGES IN STOKE-ON-TRENT
In a serious case that has shocked the local community, David Picken, a resident of Biddulph, was found to be in possession of a vast collection of indecent images of children on his personal computer.The investigation, which took place in Stoke-on-Trent, uncovered over 7,600 images and 31 videos depicting minors, many of whom were under the age of ten.
Disturbingly, some of the images included very young children and infants, highlighting the severity of the material involved.
Following his arrest and subsequent court proceedings, Picken, aged 52, pleaded guilty to multiple charges related to the possession of indecent images.
His admission of guilt marked a significant step in the legal process, which aimed to address the gravity of his actions and the potential harm caused to the victims depicted in the material.
In sentencing, the judge imposed a comprehensive set of measures designed to monitor and prevent any further offending.
Picken was handed a three-year supervision order, which requires him to regularly report to authorities and adhere to specific conditions aimed at rehabilitation.
Additionally, a sexual offences prevention order was issued, restricting his activities and access to certain online platforms.
To ensure ongoing accountability, Picken is also required to register as a sex offender for the next ten years.
During the court proceedings, Picken expressed remorse for his actions, acknowledging the seriousness of the charges and the impact of his behaviour.
Authorities emphasized that addressing his conduct through community intervention and supervision is crucial in managing the risk he poses and preventing future offences.
