BIDDULPH MAN JAILED FOR 26 MONTHS AFTER VIOLENT DOMESTIC ABUSE
A 25-year-old man from Staffordshire, Harry Rowland, subjected his partner to a prolonged period of domestic abuse spanning six months, which was described by the court as an 'appalling catalogue' of violence. He admitted to controlling and coercive behaviour, as well as strangulation and criminal damage.
His violent acts included headbutting, kicking, strangling her, smashing her phone, and at a later date, lunging at her with a knife that caused a cut to her eye.
Despite labelling their relationship as toxic, Rowland moved into a shared home in Congleton with his partner.
On New Year’s Eve, he kicked her to the ground and continued attacking her, including attempts to strangle her, which led to bruising and dizziness.
The court was informed that he was remorseful and had sought private therapy to address his anger issues; however, the judge stressed the gravity of his crimes, particularly noting the importance of the strangulation offences, which resulted in his prison sentence.
Harry Rowland was sentenced to 26 months in prison by Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court.
