STALKER BOMBARDED WOMAN WITH 400 PHONE CALLS IN SIX DAYS
A man has been sentenced to two years in prison after bombarding a woman with approximately 400 phone calls over a period of six days, despite being legally prohibited from contacting her.
Sean Philip Vincent, aged 38 and a resident of Biddulph, was released on bail on June 17 this year following another offence, with strict conditions that barred him from reaching out to the victim.
However, he violated these restrictions by reaching out through various phone numbers and social media accounts, repeatedly making contact.
Vincent was taken into custody on June 23 and acknowledged to authorities that he had called the woman hundreds of times.
Although he initially pleaded not guilty to charges of intimidating a witness or juror and stalking causing serious alarm or distress, he later changed his plea to guilty as prosecutors presented sufficient evidence.
On Wednesday, November 26, he received a two-year prison sentence at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court.
PC Olivia May from the north CID team praised the victim’s bravery for reporting the incidents.
She stated, “Firstly I commend the bravery of the victim in this case in coming forward and reporting what happened to her.
“I hope Vincent’s conviction and sentence can offer her some closure and shows that we take such reports extremely seriously and will act against those responsible.
“I would urge any victims of such crimes to come forward and report it to us; we will listen and do our best to bring you justice.” Staffordshire Police also issued a statement: "A man has been jailed after he called a woman who he was banned from having any contact with around 400 times in less than a week.
