2003: TWO JAILED FOR RAPE OF GIRL IN THE 1980S
At Worcester Crown Court, two men who assaulted a girl in the 1980s while her parents were out at bingo have been sentenced to a combined 13 years in prison for their crimes.
David Osborne, aged 35 and living in Vernon Williams Close, Hereford, was convicted last month by a jury of four counts of rape.
Judge Michael Mott sentenced him to eight years, describing his actions against a girl aged between 11 and 15 as "truly terrible." The court heard that the attacks occurred in Hereford between 1984 and 1988.
Osborne arranged for Taylor to have sexual relations with the girl in exchange for money, most of which he kept.
The woman, now in her twenties, became pregnant and is the mother of a teenage boy.
She reported to police that the misconduct by the three men had destroyed her childhood and impacted her life profoundly.
Since the offending period, Osborne has been married for 16 years and has two children.
The court highlighted that he was only 16 to 19 years old at the time and has a low IQ.
It was also ordered that all three individuals must register as sex offenders with law enforcement.
